I'm a bit late on this week's update, but I'm writing this poolside, so that makes up for it, right? :)

Last week was heavily focused on demo. We took down an archway (I know, if you're like me, you're crying inside) to open up a doorway, and ripped up the awesome yellowed linoleum in the dining room and tile from the entry and kitchen.

I loved the arch, we have them throughout the house, but they make things feel closed off, and this one in particular opens to the front room, but you walk through the front door into a wall, so removing the arch opened up the entry significantly.

We tried getting the tile up by hand with a chisel and hammer, that was awful. Luckily, Padre had a tool that made quick work of removal. We had to rent a tool to remove the linoleum, and it still only really took off the top layer, so we have a ways to go to get down to concrete. Don't judge my shoes, they're my "work" flip flops.

In addition to demo, we hired out our first project, we had about a 3.5 inch step down into the "front room" that Scott was determined to have filled in. I argued, and lost, and I'm glad I did. YOU WERE RIGHT, SCOTTHEW. There, it's in writing. The concrete guys showed up with a cement mixer and not the 25 bags of concrete I was expecting and got right to work. About 4 hours later we had one level floor all around.

We finally finished the shelving in our closet, just in time for us to move in in TWO DAYS.

Yes, we are crazy, yes, the house is a dusty disaster, but by moving in before Nov. 1st we save ourselves a month of rent (a significant amount) that means our reno will actually be done sooner. Our main concern was getting up anything that might hurt little paws because our babies will be joining us Wednesday. They don't know it yet, but they're going to LOVE IT here.

Another exciting thing from this past week: our boat is finally here, so we are ready for adventures!

We don't have a lift yet, so we have whips (I didn't know these were a thing until Scott and my dad put them up) to keep the boat away from the seawall. She's been in the water 3 days now and still looks great, so we must have done something right!

While the guys worked outside, Mom and I put up a ceiling fan in the guestroom this week as well to prep for my friend visiting and helping us move.

Here are a few more photos as the house currently stands, without floors. Believe it or not, we're making great progress! The floors will be here tomorrow and we'll start laying them in the next week or two once the whole place is painted. We still have a while before thats done though.

One final big thing this week... our first housewarming gift! Some of my parents amazing neighbors gave us this gorgeous desert rose!

We could not have survived last week without my parents helping and making sure we had food! Thanks Momma and Padre! This week I'm off work for moving and Chris' visit, so next week should have a big update!
