Upper Cabinets Part 2- Painting and Mounting

Just a quick update this week as we continue our work on the two upper cabinets. I know what you're thinking "you only have two upper cabinets?". Yep. But they're really large. So large that once they were on the wall I wasn't quite sure how I'd fill them. That won't be the case for long, most of our cups are in storage save for a few mugs and a handful of "fancy" glasses that I was afraid might get knocked around in transit back and forth to storage.
We painted, sanded, filled, sanded, repainted (repeat times infinity... or at least it felt like infinity) the outsides of the cabinets, and drilled holes on the inside to allow us to use shelf pegs to have adjustable shelves. We used our handy shelf-pin jig from Kreg.
We also sealed the inside of the cabinets with boiled linseed oil. Here is the before and after:
I love how the grain really pops after it's been sealed!
Next it was time to prep for hanging. When we assembled the cabinets we cut the top support at the 45 degree angle to create a French Cleat that will assist in hanging the cabinets:

The bottom piece I'm holding will attach to the wall (level, and attached to the studs) and the upper piece (on the cabinet) will slide over top of it, holding the cabinet level on the wall so we can attach it in place.
We hung the cabinets once and marked where we needed to cut holes for the electrical boxes to go into the back of the cabinets that will house the electrical for the under cabinet lights, then we removed them from the walls and Scott cut the holes with his multitool.
It was a tad nerve-wracking watching him cut into our beautiful new cabinets!
Holes cut, we could finally hang the cabinets:
We cut three shelves for each cabinet, unsure if we'd need that many shelves, but one cabinet is acting as a temporary pantry (goodbye laundry-basket pantry!), and the other will have to hold all of the cups after we get them from storage, so every shelf is currently being put to use.

We've started the doors for the cabinets, but I'm not sure they'll be done this week, we have a friend visiting this weekend, so no work and no blog post next week, just some relaxing with great company!
