Kitchen Cabinets part 9- Drawer face Assembly

This past week was a big week for our kitchen. Not "big" in the sense that a ton of work was done, but "big" in the sense that we went from partially-finished cabinets to actually having a few fully-finished cabinets!

We put the drawer faces on all of the drawers and added the pulls.

Putting the faces on is a process, there's measuring, and clamping, and holding, and hoping while we screw them in place.

First we had to mark 1/2in around each drawer opening so we knew how to position the front.

We have awesome cabinet face clamps that mom and dad got us last year for Christmas (thank you!) that come in *so* handy:

With the face lightly camped on, we had to level it and ensure it was centered before screwing it in place through the cabinet box.

Once the first drawer face is on everything after that has to be level and square with the one above. Our faces have a 1/2" gap between each drawer so Scott used a piece of 1/2" MDF as a spacer to keep the drawer faces evenly spaced.

Here's a quick time-lapse of putting on a drawer face:

Once the faces were on we could put on the pulls, but not before Toby showed off his hard work (I mean, he is the foreman).

We have two different sizes of pulls (4in and 5in), and knobs. We haven't used the knobs yet, but they were perfect for the two pull-out drawers next to the stove.

We used yet another gadget mom and dad got us last year to position the knobs/pulls in the right place and drill the holes.

We used the large pulls on the drawers to the left of the stove, knobs on the two pullout drawers, two small pulls on the remaining drawers to the right of the stove, and one small pull on the drawers by the sink.

The cabinet doors for under the sink require hinges, which means drilling some extra holes, so that's a project for another day. We are also still waiting on a hinge for that corner cabinet (it takes two different kinds and only one was delivered... booooo), and the slide for the last pullout next to the sink.

I say it every week because it always feels true, but we are *so close* to having the bottom cabinets done.

We are taking some time off for Thanksgiving to be with family, so no blog post for the next couple weeks, but we'll see you after the holidays when we (finally) finish these up!
